I would like to invite you and members of your team to a different kind of trade mission designed specifically for young U.S. cleantech companies who have an interest in expanding to California’s largest trading partner- Mexico. This is a highly curated, small trade mission designed to assist early stage and growth companies in getting an inside perspective on how to do business in Mexico. For example, we spend the first day in a series of talks on doing business in Mexico from the legal framework to understanding procurement "Mexico Style". The second day is a state-of-the market analysis on energy and water opportunities.
The Mexico Market
Mexico is just beginning to see the sustainable market explode as they have just opened up their energy markets – both petroleum and electricity are now free markets. As a result, Mexico is expected to grow rapidly in sustainable energy technologies. For comparison, just the state California has 50X more solar installed than all of Mexico. Given that Mexico is California’s (Los Angeles’) largest trading partner and that California companies are leaders in sustainable technologies, it should be expected that sustainable technology business (solar, wind, water, waste, smart grid, built environment) will be a major driver of economic development for both markets. Ting ahe government leaders of Mexico City are committed to cleaning and greening their city. There should be ample opportunities to accelerate this adoption through innovative US companies.
Trade Mission Themes
LACI has been asked to lead a Cleantech Trade Mission to Mexico City by the Mayor’s International Trade Department. The purpose of the Mission is to assist the most innovative California clean technology companies in entering/expanding their business in Mexico. The Trade Mission will be comprised of a select group of cleantech companies, government leaders, business executives and international experts. The Mission is organized broadly in four program areas:
• Market Entry Workshops from Mexican government, business, legal and financial experts. This is a highly curated program delivered by Mexican experts.
• Market Opportunity discussions on the business opportunity or sustainable technology companies in Mexico. This is an insider’s view of what’s going on in Mexico.
• Market Matchmaking in which Delegates get a chance to meet Mexican business, government, and investment leaders.
• The MexiRec – REN 21 "Strategic Dialogues on the Future of Energy" conference. This conference is organized to facilitate strategic discussions on the future of energy for Mexico as well as other global markets. This is a very important global conference being hosted by Mexico.
Our Mexican partner, GreenMomentum (http://www.greenmomentum.com/), is the leading private cleantech entrepreneurial organization in Mexico. We are working closely with SENER, CFE, the CDMX Economic Development agency, the US Commercial Services department in Mexico City, and other Mexican leaders to create a unique and profitable Trade Mission. Mayor Garcetti’s international trade team will assist you in meeting your specific business goals.
Mission pricing is $2000 for four nights, food, transportation and conference entrance fees. It does not include travel to/from CDMX. We are asking for a $1000 deposit to secure a place on the Tour. I’m attaching a flyer on the Trade Mission and a draft Agenda
